Saved by Being Chosen Before the Foundation of the World OR Saved by Faith?

In an earlier post we looked at Total Depravity, the T of TULIP.  In this post we will look at the U, Unconditional Election.

Unconditional Election say that God chose who would be saved before the foundation of the world.  It won’t take much digging to see that this phrase before the foundation of the world gets read into (added) to the verses that are quoted.  Calvinists/reformed believers are slit on the other half of this – God choosing those who would be damned before the foundation of the world.  The problem is logically if God chooses one, He has also chosen the other.

Does scripture say people were chosen before the foundation of the world? OR does it actually say they were chosen when they came to believe in Jesus?  Below is what I consider to be the biblical alternative to this doctrine.

Salvation by Faith

Faith is the requirement to be saved. Those who believe are predestined, at the moment of belief, to be conformed to the image of Christ. Those who truly believe will have evidence in behavior and good fruit. Jesus saves from sin.  Jesus came as a man and lived a sinless life. He alone reversed the curse. He offers to apply His righteousness to you.  Faith comes by hearing the word.
